It’s the one place in your home that you can make all yours, a place where you can let out all stress and worry for a few moments. It’s the place where you get ready for the day and get ready for bed at night. So today I will share the basic Bathroom Accessories and their functionality
Mirrors
A bathroom mirror is a must-have. You can use it to get ready, take a look at yourself before heading out the door, and make sure you look good.
There are lots of different mirrors out there. Some hang on the wall, while others are freestanding. There are also mirrors that feature lights and shelves or cabinets for extra storage space. And when it comes to frames – well, you’ve got plenty of options there too!
Choose from frameless mirrors or mirrors with wooden or metal frames.
Cabinets
This is a great option for so many reasons. This freestanding cabinet has two doors, which means you can hide all your bathroom clutter. It also has two adjustable shelves so that you can customize it to meet your storage needs. It will also look great in any bathroom!
If you’re looking for a little more space, this free-standing cabinet has four doors and four adjustable shelves along with a drawer for even more storage. One of the best pieces about this one is the fact that it is easy to assemble. No tools or hardware required!
Another great option if you have some wall space available (and who doesn’t have at least one wall in their bathroom?) is this wall-mounted storage cabinet, which is perfect for organizing your toiletries and other items that don’t fit neatly into drawers or on shelves.
One last mentionable item we found (because we love it so much) is the Zenna Home Over-the-Toilet Bathroom Storage Cabinet. This is an amazing way to get some extra counter space while making use of unused vertical space above your toilet tank…not only does this make sense from an organizational standpoint but it’s also very stylish too!
Shelves
Because shelves take up virtually no floor space, they are a great way to add storage and decor to your bathroom without sacrificing your foot traffic. Shelves can be of any material—wood, glass, plastic, or metal—and there are many different mounting options. You can wall-mount them on the wall or choose free-standing options that you place anywhere in the bathroom.
Decorative items such as small plants, towels, and toilet paper can be placed on shelves to help organize your bathroom and make it look stylish at the same time.
Medicine cabinets
A medicine cabinet is a useful and essential addition to any bathroom, and medicine cabinets come in many shapes and sizes. For example, there are traditional recessed medicine cabinets (medicine cabinets that don’t stick out from the wall) with mirrors on the front as well as surface-mounted medicine cabinets (medicine cabinets that do stick out from the wall). You can buy a simple medicine cabinet at your local home improvement store or you can browse custom-made options online. Bathrooms of all sizes can benefit from having a medicine cabinet: if your bathroom is on the small side, you may want to choose a recessed cabinet without any additional features so that they won’t take up too much space; if your bathroom could use some visual variety, consider an ornamental framed surface-mounted cabinet. Medicine cabinets with lights also make for excellent bathroom accessories.
Vanity lights
Vanity lights can serve a variety of purposes in the bathroom. Some vanity lights are used to light up the mirror for applying cosmetics or shaving. Others provide a decorative element and act as a night-light for those trips to the bathroom during the night. Follow these tips on how to install vanity lighting, what bulbs to use, how many lights you need, where they should go in the bathroom, and how to choose vanity lighting.
If you want a vanity light specifically for function over form, consider installing it above your mirror (try placing it one foot above your sink). You’ll also want to ensure that when you’re standing in front of your mirror, that you have no shadows cast on your face (this will change depending on your height and position when using the mirror). For example, if you put the light directly above your head while shaving or doing makeup application in front of the mirror and take into account that someone 5′ 6″ is going to be standing right at eye level with this placement (not 6′ 1″ or 4′ 2″), then this would work well based on those parameters. However, if you plan to sit down instead of stand up while performing these activities in front of your medicine cabinet’s mirror then additional lighting may be necessary so there are no shadows cast on your face from overhead lighting.
Bath mats and rugs
I am frequently astounded by the number of bathrooms that don’t have a rug or bath mat. It is so easy to include one (or both) in your bathroom, and it can make a tremendous difference in how nice your bathroom looks.
It’s important to find an absorbent rug that will not slip on the floor. Cotton rugs are usually very absorbent, but if you choose to go with a rug with rubber backing, I recommend attaching it to the bottom of the sink with double-sided tape. If you do this, remember to be careful when drying yourself off; you don’t want to cause yourself any damage!
Shower curtains
Choosing the right shower curtain for your bathroom is an important step in completing your ultimate bathroom look. There are a variety of shower curtains to choose from, and you’ll want one that fits well with your decor and is the correct size for your tub or shower.
Toilet seat covers
Toilet seat covers are a good product to have in your bathroom. They do many different things:
- Keep your toilet seat clean.
- Protect your toilet seat from scratches and scuffs.
- Make your toilet seat easy to clean.
- Keep your toilet seat warm in the winter.
- Protect your toilet seat from moisture, like when you take long showers in the winter and steam builds up on the bathroom windows.
- Keep your toilet seat from getting too hot in the summer, because it can be hard to sit down when the rubber heats up with the sun streaming through the window all day!
Towel bars and hooks
Next up on our list of bathroom accessories are towel bars and hooks. Although they’re often used interchangeably, both have merits to consider before you decide. Let’s look at their differences.
Wire shelves for storage baskets
Wire shelves are a great option, as they can be wall mounted and often have enough space to hold a number of baskets. Some wire shelves even come with the storage baskets included. These can be used to store extra toiletries and towels or any other bathroom accessories that you want easily accessible, but without cluttering the countertops.
