There are several ways you can use to Renovate Your Bathroom to highlight the space and make it more than just a functional room. Here are some ideas on how you can use your bathroom to highlight its space and make it more than just a place to go when nature calls:
The bathroom is more than just a functional room that you use to relieve yourself. It’s also a place to relax, unwind and feel good; a place where you can express your creativity; and a place to get ready for the day ahead or get away from the rest of the world.
Create Space For Storage
Use baskets. Sure, we all have medicine cabinets and drawers in our bathrooms, but sometimes those spaces just aren’t enough to contain all of your bathroom supplies—especially if you’re sharing a bathroom with other people. The solution? Use baskets.
- Put one on a shelf above your toilet or on top of your linen closet.
- Line the bottom shelf of a corner table with small, coordinated baskets (see “Hang Mirrors and Pictures” below for more on that).
- Set a basket on top of the back of your toilet. A little extra storage space is always welcome!
Bold Colors Can Do Wonders!
The bathroom is a great place to experiment with bold colors that you might not want to use in the rest of your home. For example, you could paint your ceiling a deep shade of plum or navy blue. Or maybe try layering shades of green on top of each other, like minty aqua or sage and emerald. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, transform your bathroom into an oasis by creating a multi-colored mural with bright oranges, reds, and yellows. The key? Make sure the colors complement one another so they don’t clash!
Get A Mirror That Can Do Anything!
A new mirror can change your life. How much better would you feel if, when you encountered an unexpected wardrobe malfunction in the bathroom, there was a full-length mirror with built-in lights and a storage cabinet just inches away from where you stood? What about the times when you’re stepping into the shower and realize that your conditioner is still sitting on the counter? Wouldn’t it be great if, instead of having to leave your wet feet all over the floor, or hop back out of the shower completely naked to get it, there was a shelf built right into your bathroom mirror?
Get yourself a compact vanity/storage unit complete with a towel rack!
Is clutter getting in your way every time you try to use the bathroom? Look for a compact vanity/storage unit with high functionality and low visual impact. A piece like this can provide lots of storage but won’t make your bathroom feel crowded. A good size is one that’s sufficiently deep so that you don’t have to fight with things falling off in front or behind; two feet is usually sufficient. If possible, look for one that has both drawers and open shelves so that items are easily accessible depending on whether you want them hidden or displayed. If you have room for it, find one that also comes with a towel rack—it’s nice not having to open multiple cabinets in order to dry off after brushing your teeth!
Move Your Door!
If you have a door that opens into your bathroom, it is taking up way too much space. Even if you don’t have a small bathroom, inward-opening doors are just not a good idea. If you’re using the toilet and the door swings open, it can bump into your leg or foot. That’s annoying!
If you’ve got reason to believe that someone might try to barge into the bathroom while you’re in there, then an outward-opening door is your best bet. This will give them a warning when they try to enter: They’ll hit the door frame with their face, and be forced to pause before entering—giving you enough time to pull up your pants! Alternatively, you could put up some kind of sign on the outside of the door (like “Do Not Enter!”).
In general, though, I would say that swinging doors are more trouble than they’re worth. People tend to swing them open quickly and forcefully (and accidentally slam them) or run into them if they forget where they are (if it’s dark at night). If children are around, that can be very dangerous for both kids and adults alike—especially if there’s glass involved! Plus, if kids get hold of one side of it when someone else is trying to use it? Forget about getting any privacy whatsoever: You’re going to spend most of your time yelling at little Jimmy as he flings himself against your fragile barrier in fits of laughter. And do we even need to go over what happens when someone tries closing this type while another person walks through? Inconvenience central!
Pocket doors offer a quick way out in case an emergency arises or something spills on the floor by accident (which I’m sure has never happened!). You also won’t have any awkward moments where someone wants privacy but their hands are full because all pockets require is a push/pull motion rather than having to turn around midway through the opening process—not even counting having fingers
Make A Statement!
Your bathroom is a place where you can be creative. What better way to show off your personality than with a bold statement? When it comes to decor, some people like to play it safe. They stick with basic neutrals and use white as their primary color of choice. These types of bathrooms are bland and don’t offer anything exciting at all!
If you’re one of those boring people (like I once was), then it’s time for a change! It’s time to think outside the box and make your bathroom the best room in your house!
Here are some ideas on how you can make your bathroom more fun:
- Wallpaper – There are so many different wallpapers that have fun patterns on them. You can choose funky things like flowers, geometric shapes, or even leopard print. Whatever pattern you go with though, just make sure that it doesn’t clash with the rest of your bathroom decor too much.
- Paint – Painting is another way to add an accent color to your space without going overboard on patterned prints for walls or floors. If you want something less permanent than wallpaper (or perhaps don’t want to spend money replacing existing tile), consider painting stripes across one wall as an easy DIY project yourself over the weekend – this will give extra depth when combined with some other decorative elements like artwork or mirrors hanging nearby.”
Tiles With Style Statements!
When you see a beautiful bathroom, there’s no way to avoid being mesmerized by the impact of the design. And what’s so great about it?
It could be a few things: the style, the color, or even the shape of fixtures. But in most cases, what makes all these elements stand out is a stunning tile.
In fact, tiles are one of the most commonly used items in bathrooms. Not only do they add flair and personality to this space, but they also help protect walls from water damage.
That said, don’t be afraid to get creative with your bathroom tiles! After all, it’s where you spend time getting ready for your day and unwinding at night—and it deserves something truly special just like any other room in your home!
Brighten Up The Area With Light!
Light is an important way to make the bathroom look bigger, so it’s important to use it smartly. If possible, allow natural light into the bathroom from windows and skylights. Use mirrors to reflect light around the room, especially if your bathroom is small. You can also use LED lights or soft lights that give off a warm glow to create a pleasant atmosphere in your bathroom. You can even highlight specific areas of your bathroom with mood lighting! This will help you create a relaxing atmosphere for when you’re taking care of business.
The right lighting scheme can really set the stage for how you feel about going to the bathroom in your own home. Make sure you pick out lights that are practical while still helping you relax while using the facilities!
Put Your Things On Display!
Now that you have a toilet in your bathroom, don’t let it languish as a utilitarian object. Reimagine its use by turning it into a showcase for some of your most prized possessions! Stow away more mundane objects like shampoo, deodorant, and toothbrushes in another location while keeping the toilet area clear. Then arrange what you’ve got remaining so that they’re visible and easily accessed from the seat. You may want to add shelving or other storage units around the room for this purpose too. I personally recommend displaying books because of their weighty presence and density when stacked, but anything will do. Be creative! Just make sure whatever you choose can take on some humidity—and isn’t liquid-based or food-related—or else projects may get messy very soon after they start.
Something Different In Every Season!
Let’s face it: a bathroom is a boring place. There are ways to enliven the space without spending a fortune, though. If you get tired of looking at your bathroom and want to change it up seasonally, try these tips:
- Use different colored towels every season.
- Replace your vanity mirror with one that has a seasonal theme.
- Use shower curtains with different themes for each season of the year.
- Change out your shower head for something bright and shiny for summer!
- You can put in lights that are color-changing bulbs that create moods depending on what you like or what makes you feel relaxed in winter or energized during the summer months!
- Get rid of clutter by making sure that all items in the bathroom have their own designated places. You can designate one drawer or cabinet for extra toilet paper, another one for clean towels and washcloths, another one for hair care products, etc.
